About Me

Hi, I’m Vanessa – the voice (or more accurately, the words) behind Ness’ bit of everything.

This space began as somewhere to hold memories. Long walks that turned into life lessons, trips that stayed with me longer than expected, and the small in-between moments that often matter the most.

By day, I work in infrastructure and asset management – a world of strategy, systems and long-term thinking about how places are cared for. I spend a lot of time considering value, resilience and the future.

Outside of that structure, I’m pulled towards something freer.
This blog lives in the space between the two.

It’s where planning meets curiosity. Where practical guides sit alongside reflection. Where doing things solo, getting uncomfortable and learning as I go feels just as important as the destination itself.

I’m interested in building a life that holds both structure and freedom. Ambition and slowness. A career I care about, and adventures that remind me who I am outside of it.

Some trips are big adventures; others are slower weekends that simply remind me to look up. You’ll find practical guides here – itineraries, lessons learned, things I’d do differently – but also the story behind the trip. What pushed me to go. What surprised me. How it felt to do something alone, tired, uncertain, or completely in awe.

At home in the UK, I spend just as much time outdoors – coastal paths, waterways and small adventures close to home – alongside everyday life, projects and the occasional chaotic plan that somehow turns into a story worth telling.

This blog isn’t about ticking places off a list.
It’s about curiosity, confidence, constant learning and creating a life that feels expansive.

I’m still figuring the balance out.
Thanks for being here while I document it.

Love Ness x
